Alyssa Hidalgo

Co Editorial Leader | Printing/Production

Alyssa is a first-generation English Literature Studies major with a Writing Studies minor in her senior year at Cal Poly. She plans to continue her studies afterward for her Masters in English and hopes to eventually become an English professor and/or find work in publishing. She also hopes to one day write a children's book that she might be able to eventually incorporate into her classroom. Alyssa enjoys reading in her spare time and has set a reading goal of 100 books per year, as of right now she is at 53 books for the year. Her favorite genre of books is romantic fiction but is always excited to hear about any recommendations from any genre. She also enjoys horoscopes, iced coffee, pop punk music and loves to remind her mom that it was never "just a phase.”

Alyssa Tenorio

Alyssa is a senior at Cal Poly Pomona who is majoring in English with a focus in Literary Studies. She loves to read in her spare time, she considers herself an avid reader and is open to all genres. Her favorite authors include Mary Shelly, Colleen Hoover, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. After graduation she hopes to pursue a career in publishing and travel as much as she can.

Claudia Salazar Jiménez

Faculty Advisor

Claudia Salazar Jiménez, one of the most recognized Peruvian writers of her generation, is also a scholar and a professor at Cal Poly Pomona. She studied Literature at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos and holds a PhD in Latin American Literature from NYU. She has an extensive publishing experience, as such, she has edited several anthologies, some of them are: Pachakuti feminista (2022), a collection of essays about contemporary feminist thinking in Peru, Escribir en Nueva York (2014) about Hispanic American narrators in New York City, and Voces para Lilith (2011) a collection on contemporary South American women writers.

Her debut novel Blood of the Dawn was awarded the Las Americas Narrative Prize in 2014. She has also published the collection of short stories Coordenadas Temporales (2016) and the young adult novel 1814, año de la independencia (2017). Her work appears on several international anthologies and has been translated to English, Portuguese, Italian, French, German, Polish and Arab.

Alejandra Espinoza

Alejandra is on her last semester at Cal Poly Pomona before she graduates as an English Education major. After graduating, she aspires to teach English at the high school level and hopes to inspire the future generation to be the best they can be. Although this is going to be her first time working on something that will be published, she is excited to learn and work on the project with all of her peers. On her free time, Alejandra enjoys watching newly released films, spending time with her family, and singing along with Sam Smith.

Isabella Holquin

Isabella is currently in her final semester as an English major with a focus on Literary Studies at Cal Poly Pomona. After graduation, Isabella plans on furthering her education and one day becoming a Lawyer. When not in school, Bella loves being with her loved ones especially her 2 year old doberman, Koda. While Bella loves to keep herself busy, she also loves more than anything indulging in a good book. She will read just about any genre; however, Horror, Romance, and Fantasy are her favorites and she is always open to book recommendations. She is really looking forward to working with her amazing team this semester.

Kat Cabula

Kat is a graduating student at Cal Poly Pomona. She is pursuing a BM in Music Composition and a Minor in Writing Studies. She is a Los Angeles based singer songwriter, composer/arranger, pianist, content creator, and music blogger. As a music blogger, she is passionate about topics within the music industry/artistic community such as mental health, wellness, minority/diversity representation, and current events. Kat also enjoys cooking, origami, being a guinea pig mama, reading books on self improvement, and photography. She is excited to be a part of the Harvest International Magazine team.

Roxanna Melgoza

Printing/Production | Advertisement 

Roxanna is an English Education major here at Cal Poly Pomona. She enjoy the outdoors and visiting national parks. Roxanna plans to use her major to hopefully teach English abroad. She is a huge dog lover and love passing her free time with her little chihuahua as well. Roxanna is excited to be a part of the Harvest team mainly because of her past experience in journalism in high school. She enjoys writing about things she's passionate about and inform others of information that will somehow intrigue or move them in a way.

Brendan Aggeler

Brendan has been in college for a long time. Brendan was previously a math major before becoming an English Education Major with the goal of becoming a middle school English teacher, and have been seriously working on that since 2018. Brendan joined the team because he feels it will sharpen his editorial skills for that task, both for the purposes of creating assignments and writing reports, and being able to give his future students a foundation in those skills.

Karina Jauregui

Karina is in her final year here at Cal Poly. She is working on getting her degree in English Education and a minor in Writing Studies. She enjoys anything in the arts such as reading, writing, music, and drawing. In her free time she enjoys watching movies and hunting for spooky decorations. As a bilingual Latina, she is excited to be a part of the Harvest and be able to contribute work in both Spanish and English.

Gabby Niko

Gabby is in her last semester as an English major with an emphasis in Literature Studies. She is an influencer and works as a full-time social media coordinator for a brand called Mini Katana. When Gabby is not sleeping or working, she likes to watch shows and read books and play with her cat, Lucy. On her spare time, Gabby really enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Gabby’s goal is to travel around the world and enjoy her youth while she still can. And Gabby eventually wants to get over her fear of heights and go skydiving once.

Evan Miller

Evan Miller is a 4th year student at Cal Poly Pomona. He is switching to an English major because his goal is to pursue a teaching career for high school. He is very new to the world of literature, but he has always found the subject very interesting. He had wonderful teachers in high school that helped build himself into the person who he is, mainly English teachers, and that’s where his passion comes from. Evan hopes to inspire students in the same way that he felt inspired in his high school years. He was taught that the ability to write clearly has power, and he hopes he can pass whatever it is that he can offer to the next generation.

Jakelyn Romero

Web Manager| Copyeditor 

Jakelyn is a first generation college student majoring in Literary studies and minoring in Writing studies. Jakelyn's lack of patience for children and love for reading has led her to pursue a career in Publishing/Editing. When she is not at work selling shoes for aspiring runners, or doing homework, Jakelyn likes to relax at home watching true crime videos, or listen to podcasts with her cat Mushu. Jakelyn will be earning her Bachelors degree when she graduates in Spring 2023. She is still unsure of what she will do after, but she hopes her mother and sisters are proud of her hard work nonetheless.
