Meet The Team
Marta Albalá-Pelegrín
Faculty Advisor
Dr. Marta Albalá Pelegrín has been an advisor of Harvest International since 2019. She is committed to fostering the campus cultural and artistic life. She has been originally trained as a literary historian, a journalist and a creative writer, and has developed a keen interest in translation studies, multilingualism and cultural mediation. Since 2014 she has acted as advisor for Pomona Valley Review and has organized numerous events on campus, from a Translation Slam and a Staged Reading to a Human Library, bringing also numerous writers, translators, and scholars. She is committed to public facing work, and is a team member of Diversifying the Classics UCLA, a board member of The Spain North-Africa Project, a PMLA officer and a delegate of the MLA assembly. Her research is a bit "niche", but she compensates this with a voracious thirst for 20th-century and contemporary novels.
Amy Pabon
Editorial Leadership; Printing/Production Team; Advertising Team
Amy Pabon is an English-Applied Language Studies major, double minoring in TESOL and Writing Studies. She is currently finishing her fourth year at CPP and plans to study Linguistics further after graduation. She enjoys keeping herself busy and being able to take on new opportunities like Harvest in hopes of exploring different facets of herself.
Riley Rico
Editorial Leadership; Submission Management; Printing/Production Team
Riley is an English major in her third year at Cal Poly Pomona. She enjoys creative arts and hopes to have a career that will allow her creativity to shine. Although she is still unsure of what she wants this career to be, she is happy to be spending her time figuring that out at CPP. She spends a lot of her free time writing and drawing and is excited to be able to put these skills to use, all while getting to work with a team of people who share interests similar to hers.
Nick Tournie
Lead EditoAdvertising Team; Printing/Production Team
Nick Tournie is in his final semester in Literary Studies at CPP. He is passionate about music and plays drums in a Ska Punk band, while proudly spreading the truth that Ska is not dead. He spends the majority of his time either writing music or shipping band merch from his bedroom. After graduation, he plans to teach English abroad in Japan, but who knows if that’s going to happen any time soon; we’re 2 years deep into a pandemic.
Devan Ruiz
Editorial Leadership; Advertising Team; Copyediting Team
Devan Kaila Ruiz is a Psychology Major, Minoring in Writing Studies, and is proud to be exploring & challenging social norms! She dabbles in many areas and has numerous interests–most of which will debut when she is a graduated scholar! Devan loves to daydream about what the future has in store for her, as she currently romanticizes the present, and reminisces over the past. She is an extraverted empath who strives to contribute to the promotion of kindness in the world, while she acknowledges that mistakes are what makes us human! She is deeply spiritual as well as humorously superficial–if appreciating the skill and craftsmanship of handcrafted leather goods sounds materialistic…
Jonathan Camacho
Submission Management; Copyediting Team
Jonathan is an English major centering in Literary Studies. He is a passionate film fan who loves to analyze and critique films and many pieces of art. Jonathan also enjoys writing argumentative pieces on films and books he reads, connecting it to theoretical discourses from Barthes, Kristeva, Butler, and many other theorists. He started his journey with The Walt Disney Company this year and hopes to grow into the company once he graduates with his Bachelors in 2023.
Frank Jeremy Greenhouse
Submission Management; Printing/Production Team
Frank is proudly finishing his final semester at Cal Poly Pomona as an English major, centering within Literary Studies. He primarily enjoys writing romantic poetry and occasionally composes musical lyrics within his free time, but when he is not displaying emotions on paper, you may find him attempting to catch barracuda within his newfound love for fishing. As his academic career comes to a close within Spring 2022, he has plans to follow in his father’s footsteps of becoming a lineman, and securing the success he yearns for. Despite pursuing a career where his literary prowess may not be implemented, Frank’s immense love for writing and literature will be displayed as he graduates with his Bachelor’s, illustrating that he is efficient in pursuing his goals.
Sergio Santamaria
Web Management; Submission Management
An English major at CPP, Sergio is working towards becoming a teacher after graduating. A self-described “professional disaster,” he sometimes wonders how he has made it this far (but is glad he did). Though he keeps himself busy with work and school, he likes to spend his free time just doodling and writing. While he is not very good at either, he doesn’t particularly mind.
Miriam Ruvalcaba
Submission Management; Copyediting Team
Miriam is in her last semester as a Spanish major at Cal Poly Pomona. As a first generation student, she wants to help those who have trouble communicating in the English language and make it easier for them. After graduation, she plans to further her education and become an interpreter. Miriam enjoys listening to music, preferably in spanish, she enjoys dancing, and checking out new places to have fun with friends!
Jackie De La Cruz
Submissions Management; Web Management
Jackie is a first-generation Spanish major at Cal Poly Pomona. She likes to take spontaneous trips with friends and going to theme parks. She is the Program Assistant for the UndocuAmbassador Program at Cal Poly Pomona's Bronco Dreamers Resource Center as well as a volunteer. Robert Salcido

Robert is a third-year English Literary Studies student at Cal Poly Pomona. Pursuing a career as a writer, his favorite hobbies are reading, writing, drawing, and watching old horror movies.
Lizeth Suarez
Copyediting Team; Advertising Team
Lizeth is in her final year at Cal Poly Pomona as an English major. Her specialization is centralized in Literary Studies. She enjoys writing about her experience in higher education through the lens of a first generation Chicana. Her goal is to one day be able to help those who are navigating the same path she is and help guide them through the pressures of academia.
Gabriela Prado
Advertising Team; Copyediting Team
Gabriela is a Spanish major and this is her last semester at Cal Poly Pomona before starting her credential program and then in hopes of becoming a high school Spanish teacher. She wants to help students learn a second language or perfect that second language they already know. Besides expanding her education, she really enjoys spending time with her loved ones, trying new things out of her comfort zone, and listening to music.
Dwight Ian Martinez
Copyediting Team; Printing/Production Team
Dwight is an English major taking the Literary Studies option. He enjoys writing stories in rhyming verse but refuses to consider himself a poet. As someone in his last semester in Cal Poly, he’s trying hard not to buy-in to the idea that “Cs get degrees.” He likes to think, “it pays when you get the As.” Reading books is one of his favorite pastimes, doing it in an effort to naturally improve his writing apart from enjoying a good story. After graduating, he’s looking into doing something that might involve writing or try becoming an archivist.
