Beauty of the Lake

I can still imagine the sherbet looking skies if I really try. Taking a sunset boat ride with those you love dearest by your side is truly a core memory. The mothers on the boat nagging at us children- making sure we have sunscreen all over our bodies and faces- is part of what river life consisted of. The weather hitting just over 100 degrees could be rough at times, but the feeling of the water beating against the boat as well as splashing one’s face was so refreshing. There is so much beauty in these memories of the lake as a child. The ways in which we would be out on the boat all day, the hunger that struck us at just around 12 p.m. However, it was in those moments where absolutely nothing tasted better than that sandwich your mother, or aunt would make you. I swear there was something about sandwiches while you are in the heat and water all day that just tasted different, in the best way possible, paired with a capri-sun and some chips. The beautiful memories this place holds so dear to my heart and my family. Oh, did I mention the best night sleep.
