Campus Cultural and Identity Centers Graduation Celebrations

On campus, there are various student and resource centers including; the César E. Chavez Center for Higher Education, African American Student Center, Asian and Pacific Islander Student Center, Pride Center, Native American Student Center, and Bronco Dreamers Resource Center. These inclusive clubs offer graduation celebrations annually during the month of May, for students of Cal Poly Pomona. Faculty members hold these events because they want to honor scholar’s achievements and their academic excellence.


The César E. Chavez Center for Higher Education offers RAZA. The event is held to “celebrate the success of graduating Chicano/Latino students.” It will take place on Sunday May 15th from 3:00PM to 5:00PM. The African American Student Center offers a Pan-African commemoration to honor “the outstanding academic achievements of Black Students.” Their celebration will be held on Saturday May 14th from 3:00PM to 5:00PM. Asian’s, Pacific Islander’s, and Desi graduates have a ceremony that is brought by The Asian and Pacific Islander Student Center. Saturday, May 14th from 11:00AM to 1:00PM, is when their celebration will take place. On Thursday, May 12th from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, the Lavender Graduation will be brought to campus, by the Pride Center. The Native American Student Center holds the Native Graduation, which will be on Sunday May 15th from 11:00AM to 3:00PM. Cal Poly’s Bronco Dreamers Resource Center offers Undocugraduation; it will take place on campus, on Saturday May 7th from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. According to their ceremony mission statement they are “dedicated to recognizing students and allies for their accomplishment of reaching a milestone – their college graduation.”
