Overwhelmed

At the end of spring, a weekend missed and a love lost

Missed final earnings and a hole in my heart the cost.

My beloved's passing has left a still-aching rift

And ever since then, my mind tends even more to drift.

This semester, I've struggled to keep my studies paced

And home chores and drama have been too closely spaced.

A break disrupted and a bleeding foot leaves me a frazzled man

But still I soldier on and try to keep up work as best I can.

The rapid-fire burdens put me thoroughly to the test.

I could really use a break, to both clear decks and rest.
